Land for Sale in New Mexico
Find Farms, Ranches, Acreage, and Country Homes for Sale

New Mexico is the fifth-biggest state in the United States, covering an area of 121,598 square miles (78 million acres). Of this area, 121,298 square miles (99.8 percent) is land, while the remaining 292 square miles is covered by water (comprising inland and coastal waters, as well as Great Lakes where applicable). The Bureau of Land Management oversees most outdoor recreation on over 13 million acres of New Mexico land. Popular activities include hunting, fishing, horseback riding and OHVing (indeed, an all-terrain vehicle is a necessity in many areas given the tough, rugged terrain). Lands of America research shows that 47 percent of land in the Land of Enchantment is privately owned. Given recent comparative price-per-acre values, New Mexico has the cheapest land for sale in the country. This data represents $871.7 million of land for sale in the state covering a total of 1.4 million acres. Of its 33 counties, Catron County had the most land for sale.
