It's official - the Extreme Barn Raising in the Hill Country has begun! The equipment started working today to get the pad site built. It's not just any pad site either. Because of the elevation change at the ranch and specifically this location, at the front of the site, the pad is going to be built up 7 feet off the ground. Yes 7 feet!
The crew from Alan J Vincik Land Enhancement is building the pad site. They're mining the base out of the side of a hill on the ranch and bringing it in dump trucks to the pad site. This will help save money that would have to be spent trucking the base in from some other location away from the ranch.
Once the base is dumped on the site, it's then spread around by a skidsteer and dozer. After what looks like each foot deep of base is put down, they drench it with water from a water truck, then compact it with a roller. What an unbelieveably orchestrated show seeing all this heavy equipment move around so quickly and seamlessly together!
They started by lining out the driveways and barn footprint. It's so incredible to see it starting to come to life. There is a long road ahead on this Buyer's journey just to have the pad site done. Right now estimates are at a week. That could be longer or shorter depending on equipment doing well and weather conditions.
Stay tuned because we'll have site photos soon so that you can see what all is going on with this Extreme Barn Raising...
