Terrain:
This ranch lies in the rugged hill country in the northeast portion of Val Verde County. The run off from this ranch drains into Dolan Creek (seasonally dry) which drains to the Devils River. Steep hillsides and some large draws make this property very scenic with elevations varying from 1789 ft. to 2100 ft. The ranch in the past has been and continues to be a working ranch with cattle and goats. Having a good turf of native grasses and many different brush species ranging from live oak, cedar, catclaw, mesquite, mountain laurel, and persimmon make this ranch productive for livestock & wildlife. This ranch is cross fenced into five pastures (the camp cell pasture is divided into 8 traps for a grazing system which reportedly works well).
Water:
There is one windmill and several troughs located on the property. There will also be a water well use agreement from a neighboring well. Located in the upper Newell pasture, there is a “Header Dam” built with large rocks that has a reservoir for livestock and wildlife. This spot is very remote and in a scenic canyon.
Recreation:
There is all sorts of fun and recreation on this ranch. From 4-wheeling through beautiful canyons to hiking over high, rugged hills; deer, turkey, quail, and dove hunting. Other varmints such as raccoons, ringtails, bobcats and an occasional mountain lion.
