Description: Wyoming's magnificent, rugged mountains and granite peaks create a dramatic backdrop for this lush creek bottom and ranch setting. Little Rocky Creek Ranch consists of nearly 101 secluded acres, completely surrounded by two and a half million acres of the Shoshone National Forest. At the foot of the Beartooth Mountain Range, the property is located in the northwest corner of Park County, Wyoming, in the mouth of Little Rocky Creek Canyon.
The ranch was homesteaded in the late 1800s and has been in the hands of one family for more than 60 years. The ranch is completely fenced and is being used as summer pasture for horses. There are no other improvements except for relic structures of the original homestead. Several prospective home sites offer spectacular views.
Trails lead to the top of the Beartooths, Deep Lake and the Clarks Fork Canyon, giving access to unlimited hunting, fishing and recreational opportunities in the area. Resident herds of deer, elk, Rocky Mountain goat and antelope provide entertainment for the wildlife enthusiast. Bear and wolves are occasional visitors to the area. Elevation on the ranch is 5,280 feet along the creek. Adjoining mountain peaks are over 9,000 feet above sea level. The Beartooth Front climate is semi-arid with estimated average rainfall of 9.4 inches. Spring brings a variety of wild flowers, which in turn, bloom throughout the summer months.
Little Rocky Creek meanders through the property for nearly 3/4 of a mile. The creek is lined with meadows and trees; the outer edges are dry range land. Several springs and beaver ponds are scattered along the creek. Cottonwoods, quaking aspens and pine trees dot the landscape.
The nearby Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River is an outstanding recreational area, nationally designated a Blue Ribbon Trout Fishery, as well as a Wild & Scenic River. Yellowstone National Park lies just 32 miles over the Absaroka Mountain Range. The Clarks Fork Community has a volunteer fire department, recreation center, schools, a convenience store and County land fill.
An opportunity to purchase a property of this nature in one of Wyoming's most secluded and spectacular settings is not only rare, it is virtually unheard of at any price. Properties of this type have either been held for generations, purchased by large land owners or have become part of our Public Lands Systems. Little Rocky Creek Ranch is a very special place!
The private gate to this 101 acre sanctuary is approximately two and a half miles inside of the National Forest boundary and just four miles off State Highway 292. The county maintains the road up to the Forest Service boundary. The Ranch is accessed via Wyoming State Highway 120 to Park County Road 1AB, to 8YC to 8RA and from there to the Ranch. Although the Ranch enjoys a remote area, it is conveniently located approximately 38 miles from Cody, 30 miles from Powell, 40 miles from Red Lodge and 85 miles from Billings, Montana.
