Now you can own over 6 acres of northern Michigan waterfront real estate! This property has 230 feet of shoreline and you can boat directly into Michigan's 7th largest lake! Black Lake is located in Cheboygan and Presque Isle counties in Northern Michigan. With a surface area of nearly 16 square miles, it is the seventh largest inland lake in Michigan. Boaters can explore a lake that is over six miles long and nearly four miles wide. The maximum lake depth is 50 feet with an average depth of 23 feet.
For fishing fun, Black Lake is well known for its limited sturgeon fishing season during winter. The fishery is limited to five total fish taken each year, each over 36 inches and taken through the ice with fishing spears. 25 anglers are chosen by lottery each day and given a flag to raise when they have caught a fish. The season closes after all five flags have been raised. Sometimes the Sturgeon season lasts only a few hours.
If you miss your chance at one of those elusive Sturgeons, Black Lake is also well known for its healthy and diverse fishery of Walleye, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Northern Pike and Pumpkinseed Sunfish.
The nearby town of Onaway MI provides supplies for the cottage.
