It is the home of the Kansas State University - Salina flight department. K-State has just recently completed a fully contained, outdoor drone training center approved by the FAA. With the airport's long runway and location, approximately 85 miles southeast from the continental center of the U.S., many corporate and private jets stop here to refuel. That has earned Salina the moniker "America's Fuel Stop."
