TBD N. Firesteel Rd, Greenland, Michigan 49929 - Ontonagon County
$180,000 320 Acres
Property ID 3077147

Western Upper Peninsula 320 Acre Parcel! This property is located in northeast Ontonagon County in Michigan's Upper Peninsula! The parcel is wooded, and has miles of trails throughout. There is a wildlife pond located on the property, which is part of a tributary system of the Flintsteel River. The main branch of the Flintsteel (a Type 3 River) receives its water from the 42-mile East Branch, and the 29-mile West Branch - which flows through the Ottawa National Forest and State Forest Lands. Over 18-miles long, the main branch empties into Lake Superior. You can catch Brook, Brown, and Rainbow (Steelhead) Trout from the shoreline of the river. You can hunt Black bear, Whitetail deer, Grouse, Waterfowl, and other Wildlife on the property. To the north, east and south of the parcel are thousands of additional acres of Corporate CFA land, for walk in access to hunt, trap, or fish. A MI-Trale organization sponsored Snowmobile Trail F runs along the Firesteel Road, between the Village of Ontonagon and Greenland, with access just a mile+ away from the property. This trail connects to the Bill Nichols Trail. Both scenic and challenging, this trail (a portion of designated Snowmobile Trail #3) covers 41.5 miles of sometimes steep, sometimes sandy and sometimes soaring terrain. The trail takes you over the west and east branches of the Flintsteel River on three successive steel bridges that total nearly 1,300 feet in length, with a maximum clearance over the water of 85 feet, providing a breathtaking experience. Nearly 40 miles of the trail follows the route of the Copper Range Railroad, built between 1899 and 1901. When the state acquired the line in 1974, it was among the first inactive railroad corridors in Michigan to be converted to a public trail. If you are a history buff, about two miles away you will find the Adventure Mining Company. There you will find guided underground tours of one of the best preserved copper mines in Michigan. You can walk through part of the tunnels or try rappelling with a rope and harness in other levels of the tunnels. The mine site also has miles of free-use hiking and mountain biking trails on some of the most unique and challenging single-track trails in the Midwest. The property is only a 30 minute drive from Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. This 60,000 acre park is one of the few remaining large wilderness areas in the Midwest. Towering virgin timber, secluded lakes, and miles of wild rivers and streams make a visit to the "Porkies" a trip to remember. The woodlands have moderate timber value. The Property is located off a County maintained road, but access into the property will be seasonal, requiring that you travel in by snowmobile or tracked ATV type vehicle in the Winter. A legal easement is in place. Contact us to set up your appointment to see this great Western Upper Peninsula Recreation Land! MLS# 1092802
