This property is absolutely beautiful and a must see if you are considering building a home near Duluth or Cloquet. If you are looking to get out of the city and be surrounded by huge white pines and cedar trees, with a view that is breathtaking, then this is the place! Several sites on the property have spectacular views to the south, including a view of the Mont du Lac Ski Area that is about two miles away. The property has an amazing variation of terrain. From the lower land on the south and southwest to the huge glacial outcroppings in the middle and on the north, the terrain is constantly changing. The change in elevation on this property is remarkable. From the southwest corner to the northeast corner you will climb 65 feet. A well-established driveway takes you to the top of the hill where there are numerous outstanding building sites. A chalet style home or a log home sitting on top of this hill would easily make this a Million Dollar property. This property is mostly high ground with some pockets of lower land to the south and southwest. Much of the low land has cedar trees and brush growing in it. The higher ground is a mix of Northern Minnesota hardwoods and softwoods. This is an old growth forest and some of the cedar and white pines are “ginormous”! There was a lot of deer sign on the property with a lot of heavily used game trails. A nice buck weighing 217 lb (dressed weight) was recently taken on the property. Good hunting sites and an easily upgraded trail system are on the property for both rifle and archery hunting. This property and the area in general have produced several nice bucks over time. Black bear and grouse can also be hunted here. There is an established campsite on top of the hill from which there is a very good trail system in place with a couple of permanent stands ready to hunt. The property is basically raw land and you can develop it any way that you want to. Put in additional trails or add a food plot to attract the deer. The property has several places where you could put in a beautiful and perfectly landscaped wildlife pond or small lake. There's also ample room to continue to develop the property for cross country skiing, running, 4-wheeling, hiking trails, hunting, blueberry picking, or a slide down the hill.n If you like to fish, Thomson Reservoir is only minutes away. Thomson Reservoir is a 339 acre man-made lake that is fed by the St Louis River. According to a 2002 DNR survey, the lake holds walleyes, small mouth bass, yellow perch, and northern pike in good numbers. There are hundreds of acres of Minnesota Power Company land across the road that offers multiple uses. In particular the land across the road includes a trout stream and beautiful waterfalls. South and east from Thomson Reservoir the drive along the St Louis River through part of Jay Cooke State Park using Highway 210 is spectacular and only minutes from the property. Jay Cooke State Park offers miles of bike trails, cross-country ski trails, and hiking trails. The Willard Munger State Trail is about a half a mile south of the property. Part of the Willard Munger Trail goes into Jay Cooke State Park along the Forbay Lake Trail. The Willard Munger State Trail is a collection of multiple use trails between Hinckley and Duluth. It consists of interconnecting trails offering hiking, bicycling, in-line skating and snowmobiling. If you like to gamble, the property is about 5 miles from the Black Bear Casino. There are several locations on the property where you could build an amazing home or cabin. There is electricity and a phone line available along Thomson Road, which is a very good well-maintained asphalt road. The area provides excellent whitetail deer, black bear and ruffed grouse hunting.
