MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Enel SpA said its unit Enel North America Inc has completed the construction of a 101 MW wind farm in the US state of Kansas. The Smoky Hills Phase I project, which can generate electricity to meet the demands of 37,000 US families, can be upgraded to reach a capacity of 250 MW, Enel said. The new wind farm will save around 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions as well as the consumption of over 70,000 tons of oil equivalent per year, Enel said. In December 2006, Enel announced it intends to invest 4.1 bln eur in renewable energy projects. stephen.jewkes@thomson.com Read the complete article from Forbes.com » |
