South Dakotans urged to invest in wind power

Representatives of a firm pushing for the construction of seven wind turbines in northern South Dakota were not deterred by a small turnout at an investment meeting in Wall on Monday night. August 30, 2010 More than 500 South Dakotans have invested more than $13.5 million in the proposed seven-turbine South Dakota Wind Partners wind farm that will sit near 101 other wind turbines that North Dakota-based Basin Electric is building in Jerauld, Aurora and Brule counties north of White Lake. The minimum investment is $15,000. "That's probably 494 that weren't invested in wind energy before," said Brian Minish, the firm's vice president.
