County votes to acquire 306 acres of land

Santa Barbara County took a major step Tuesday toward establishing an easily accessible open space area and multi-use trails system when the Board of Supervisors voted to assume ownership of 306 acres in the Orcutt area and establish a local trails commission. December 14, 2011 The acreage was set aside as open space years ago as part of the Rice Ranch housing development but has languished along with the housing industry as a result of the economic downturn.
