Future of proposed dumps 4654 acres in question

It’s too early to know what will become of the 4,654 acres in eastern Riverside County that would have housed the world’s largest trash dump, but there is no intention of deeding the land over to Joshua Tree National Park, a representative of one of the property owners said Tuesday.

Terry Cook, executive vice president and general counsel for Kaiser Ventures, which owns 83 percent of the struggling Mine Reclamation LLC, rejected a push by Eagle Mountain landfill foes to turn the land over to the public.
