York School aquires 101 acres

York School has acquired 101 acres of former Fort Ord land and a tour of the property will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, when head of school Chuck Harmon and trustee emeritus Steven Webster will present details of the land acquistion and plans for its future use. November 07, 2011 The initial application for the land was filed more than 20 years ago, and its acquisitiion will increase the size of the York campus fivefold, according to school officials. Plans are to develop an outdoor laboratory on the acreage to provide education and research programs for the school in the fields of biology, ecology, natural history, geosciences, and the history of land use practices.
