Auroras incentives to Gaylord would label 125 untouched acres as blighted

In order to offer about $100 million in property-tax breaks to hotel and conference center operator Gaylord Entertainment, the city of Aurora must designate as "blighted" 125 acres of vacant land near Denver International Airport. The land — classified as agricultural for tax purposes but zoned for commercial development — sits adjacent to a major proposed residential and commercial project and is located along the primary road to the airport. The property was part of a larger land sale in 2006 for $51.7 million.
