BLM Offering City of Taft 541 Acre Park Site Hidden Costs Could Kill What is an Excellent Idea
Source: The Taft Independent
It sounded to good to be true. The Bureau of Land Management was offering the City of Taft 541 acres of vacant land the BLM currently owns for $10 per acre. The offer is part of a federal program passed by congress in 1996 that sells or leases BLM to public agencies for an incredibly low price of $10 per acre. The land in question is a 541 acre parcel located on Gardner Field Road, about 1 mile past K-mart on the right side of the road. The parcel sits inside the city limits and would make a great regional park with many attractions including a water park, camping and RV parking, a nature center and other great public uses.
