Boulder approves 243 acre Windhover Ranch purchase to block housing hunting

The Boulder City Council agreed Tuesday night to purchase a 243-acre piece of land known as Windhover Ranch over the objection of a prospective private buyer, who city officials said wanted the land partly for hunting pheasants and quail. In a unanimous vote, the council agreed to spend $4 million from the Open Space and Mountain Parks budget to buy the property that sits one mile north of Valmont Road and a half-mile east of 75th Street in Boulder County.
