Bethel officials want to preserve 72 acres

Officials are considering the purchase of 72 acres of pasture and woodland at the corner of Old Hawleyville and Plumtrees roads that the Franc family has offered to sell the town for $950,000. Several steps must be followed to acquire the land, which abuts land owned by the town of Newtown and the Newtown Forest Association.
