Davenport Farm in New Milford to be preserved through deal between state and town

On New Year's Eve, Jim and Christine Davenport celebrated an announcement that the state intended to partner with the town to buy the development rights for their 92.4-acre Ridge Road farm. Mayor Patricia Murphy was also pleased with the state's gesture. She said she was simply caught off guard because she was given no official notice of the state's intention and the Town Council had not yet agreed to such a deal. But it did Monday night.
