New Milford to Partner with State to Preserve Harris Farm Land

He pointed out that “the town’s right-to-farm ordinance follows the state’s right-to-farm statute.” September 13, 2011 Council member Ray O’Brien, who that it was his understanding that the acreage is “some of the best prime farmland,” wanted to know what would happen should the farm ever cease to be a working farm. Mr. DiBella said the land would be open space and, as such, could be used for passive recreation. “That’s supposed to mean non-developable, no construction there,” he said, adding that there is a conservation restriction on this property.
