GEORGETOWN — A third and possibly final draft of a new Sussex County land-use plan was formally introduced Tuesday, clearing the way for passage next month of the controversial proposal for guiding real estate development.
The document, designed to meet a state requirement that local land-use plans be updated every five years, has won praise for recently added provisions to encourage stronger protection of wetlands, waterways and underground drinking-water supplies. But it calls for no change in a county law that makes most rural land eligible for development at a density of more than one house per acre.
