On Aug. 4, an ownership group that includes commercial developer Steven McCraney and homebuilder Otto DiVosta quietly sold an 18-acre parcel on Congress Avenue to the U.S. Army.

The price: $6.95 million, according to a deed recorded with the Palm Beach County clerk's office.

Biotech backers aren't likely to be pleased. The prime, 18-acre property at the corner of Congress Avenue and Silver Beach Road was designated for biotech-related industries, in keeping with the nearby presence of The Scripps Research Institute in Jupiter.
