18 acres eyed for biotech business sold to Army

A controversial piece of Lake Park land is in the Army now. August 29, 2011 On Aug. 4, an ownership group that includes commercial developer Steven McCraney and homebuilder Otto DiVosta quietly sold an 18-acre parcel on Congress Avenue to the U.S. Army. The price: $6.95 million, according to a deed recorded with the Palm Beach County clerk's office. Biotech backers aren't likely to be pleased. The prime, 18-acre property at the corner of Congress Avenue and Silver Beach Road was designated for biotech-related industries, in keeping with the nearby presence of The Scripps Research Institute in Jupiter.
