Mosaic, one of the region's largest employers and one with perhaps its most controversial products - phosphate for agriculture - will sign over the deed to a 75-acre tract of land it own to Manatee County for Bunker Hill Community Park after an enabling vote by the Manatee County Board of Commissioners Tuesday morning. The Mosaic gift will complement a new 8,785 sq. ft. fire station in the rural Manatee County community of Duette. Both are expected to open this year. The company is covering all construction costs for construction of both the park and the fire station, at a cost of $2.18 million, and will make payments totaling $319,000 towards the operation of the park over the next three years. The Bunker Hill park will offer playgrounds, soccer and football fields, a 19-acre lake and a dock for boat launches and fishing. May 09, 2011
