WEIRSDALE - The Conservation Trust for Florida is hosting a workshop on farmland preservation and estate planning.

This free workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Florida Carriage Museum and Resort on 3000 Marion County Road in Weirsdale.

The workshop is part of the Conservation Trust for Florida's project to help protect working agricultural lands and the network that supports farms and ranches, according to a news release.

At the workshop, landowners will learn about current tax incentives for land conservation, the economic benefits of conservation easements and ways to reduce property, federal income, and estate taxes. Economic benefits of life estates, charitable remainder trusts, and business organization strategies will also be discussed.
