Sanctuary Cove Sponsors Boat in Golden Isles Kingfish Classic
Source: Blue Green Communities
August 07, 2008

ST MARYS, GA - 7 AUGUST 2008 - Sanctuary Cove, a Bluegreen Golf Community, sponsored a local boat in The Golden Isles Kingfish Classic July 31- August 2. The Golden Isles Kingfish Classic is the Southern Kingfish Association’s biggest event in Georgia. It's an extremely important one to the fishermen. It's for bragging rights. Everybody wants to be able to walk around and say, “I won the Golden Isles.” All proceeds from the tournament stay in the local community and support many charitable organizations.

The Sanctuary Cove sponsored boat, The O-Zone, was captained by Richie Lott. The crew of the O-Zone had a very respectable aggregate total for the tournament but received a standing ovation for saving the lives of the all female crew of The Pink Mullet! The crew of the Pink Mullet was in peril when the boat began taking on water in rough shark infested water and called “May Day”. Capt. Ritchie Lott and his crew heard the call for help and immediately abandoned fishing and sped to the rescue to find the women with water up to their knees in the sinking boat. Lott moved his boat as close as possible, and the crew of the Pink Mullet jumped safely onto the O-Zone. The doomed vessel sank until only the tip of the bow remained visible. It was quite an exciting day and Captain Lott and his crew earned more than just bragging rights for winning the tournament, they won bragging rights for saving the lives of a fellow crew!
