500 acres of private land purchased added to Michigans Pigeon River Country State Forest

More than 500 acres of private land are being added to Michigan's 118,000-acre Pigeon River Country State Forest in the northern Lower Peninsula. December 20, 2011 The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says in a release that funds from the Natural Resource Trust Fund helped purchase the tract of land within the forest. The property also contains a mile-long stretch of the Black River and about a half-mile of Saunders Creek.
