County buys $1.4 million in land

By the end of the year, Allen County will be the owner of 151 industrially zoned acres, finalizing years of plans to acquire property that could someday draw new jobs to the area. The county’s redevelopment commission Tuesday approved the purchase of three parcels on the west side of the Silverado Industrial Park, near General Motors and Vera Bradley, pending the result of an independent appraisal. Officials hope to close on the purchase by the end of the year.
