Gravel mine in Yellowstone County approved for 15 acre expansion new plant

State environmental regulators have approved a proposal to more than double the size of a gravel mine near the southeastern Montana community of Lockwood.

Emerald Hills Development of Laurel had applied to increase its mine to almost 25 acres. The Department of Environmental Quality's May 9 approval also allows for an asphalt plant, gravel crusher and other machinery.
