Cedar Falls Council approves land purchase

The city will spend more than $1 million to guide development at one of the city's gateways. On Monday, the City Council voted approval of contracts to buy 76 acres at the intersection of Hudson Road and Ridgeway Avenue for $1.15 million. The land, currently farm land, is owned by James and Phyllis Gibson and Gibson Six Inc., a family corporation. Phyllis Gibson served on the Cedar Falls City Council from 1988 through 1996.
