Constitutional Amendment Supporters Say it Would Save Iowas Soil, Prevent Future Flood Threats

Supporters are on a mission to pass an Iowa constitutional amendment that they say would prevent flooding and clean-up Iowa's polluted waterways... an amendment that is buried on the back page of the November ballot. October 03, 2010 "Iowa's Water and Land Legacy Trust Fund" would establish a pot of money used to restore wetlands and prairie habitat. Proponents say it would add to the natural means of preventing flooding in rural and urban areas. Sean McMahon, state director of The Nature Conservancy, said they need a majority of voters, meaning 50%, plus one, in order to establish the fund and use it to help rural Iowans make improvements to their land.
