Duffy says farmland isnt the next speculative bubble

This year's 15.9 percent increase in Iowa farmland values has caused concern that farmland might be the next speculative bubble, but Mike Duffy, the Iowa State University Extension economist who directs the annual land value survey, said he isn't losing sleep over that prospect. December 23, 2010 "At least in the near term the fundamentals dictate the increases we've been seeing," Duffy said during a news conference last week in Ames. "We have high commodity prices, low interest rates, considerable demand for land and limited land supplies."
