Iowa Farmland Values Rise to Record, Survey Shows

Farmland values in Iowa, the largest corn- and soybean-growing state, rose to the highest ever in 2010 as crop prices rebounded on record export demand, according to an Iowa State University survey of real-estate brokers. December 15, 2010 Agricultural land in the state was worth $5,064 an acre as of Nov. 1, up 16 percent from $4,371 a year earlier and above the prior record of $4,468 in 2008, the university in Ames, Iowa, said today on its website. The survey has been conducted every year since 1941. Before 2009, farm property rose to records for six straight years.
