Prison farmland sale could upend system

An idea to help balance the budget by selling state-owned farmland used primarily in Iowa prison farm programs would likely bankrupt the system, a report released Thursday showed. December 03, 2010 Aides to Gov.-elect Terry Branstad declined to comment about the topic, but House Republican leader Kraig Paulsen of Hiawatha said the issue will be reviewed further.
