County may open land to hunters fishers

Leasing county land for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks' walk-in hunting and fishing program could bring the county more revenue from farm ground it already has leased. "I think there's some great educational opportunities, not just from letting people go hunt and fish, but doing some different programs out there -- whether it's hunter safety stuff or conservation activities that Wildlife and Parks is involved with," said Phil Penn, the county's livestock and expo center director, who also oversees operations on 1,100 acres of farm ground the county owns.
