Farm acreage drawing high prices

In the Midwest, the price of farmland has risen to a five-year high, a trend that is holding true for Pratt County. “Interest (in land) is great, and the dollar interest rates are down,” said John Hamm, owner of Hamm Auction and Real Estate. He recently sold a piece of irrigated cropland for $4,000 and other parcels for $3,000 an acre. Some dryland cropland has sold for $1,700.
