Kansas Agricultural Land Brings $9.56 Million in Competitive Auction

An intense competition between large and small bidders produced a total sale price of $9.56 million Tuesday as an overflow crowd of investors and spectators jammed into the Gray County 4-H/Extension Building for the auction of 6,684 acres in Gray and Finney counties. October 27, 2010 "This was as competitive as a Kansas-Kansas State basketball game, and just about as exciting," said R.D. Schrader, president of Schrader Real Estate & Auction Company, which conducted the auction. "What we saw is a very vivid demonstration of the growing realization that agricultural land is one of today's best long-term investments."
