The Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corp. has increased the maximum loan amounts for two of the loan programs that it administers.

For the Agricultural Infrastructure Loan Program, KAFC, now will facilitate loans of up to $250,000 instead of $100,000. The loan amount still must not exceed 50 percent of the project costs.

The program is designed to help Kentucky's tobacco producers finance long-term projects. Eligible projects may include livestock and poultry barns, grain storage facilities, greenhouses and ponds.

For the Beginning Farmer Loan Program, a borrower's outstanding balance limit has been raised to $250,000 from $100,000. The maximum term also has been increased to 15 years from 10 years.

The program is designed to assist people who want to develop, expand or buy into a farming operation. They can qualify for financing to purchase livestock, equipment, facilities, permanent working capital or to make a down payment on real estate or invest in a partnership or LLC.
