Peabody pulled $17M surprise

The pending purchase by Peabody Energy Corp. of American Electric Power's 4,745 acres out past Geneva ranks as one of the great surprises of the year. October 09, 2010 Every indication was that AEP would individually auction off each of the 44 parcels that it acquired more than a generation ago in anticipation of building a power plant that was built at Rockport, Ind., instead.
