More than 271 acres of forest and farm land in Frederick and Carroll counties have been approved for preservation by the Board of Public Works.

The board approved $858,505 for conservation easements form more than 210 acres of farm land around Burkittsville in Frederick County.

And $178,760 was approved for easements for more than 60 acres of forest and farm land in the Upper Patapsco Rural Legacy area in Carroll County.
