Bridgewater to decide on $3.5 million open space purchase

In the southeast of Bridgewater, where the Taunton River snakes a wide east turn before heading south again, lies a wooded 143-acre property whose history dates back to 1909, when resident Faelton Perkins’ grandparents purchased a portion of the property. It’s an acreage unlike others in Bridgewater, say conservationists – “perhaps the crown jewel of open space,” according to Marilee Kenney Hunt, chairwoman of Bridgewater’s Community Preservation Committee.
