New Caledonia Township park starts with land donation

Caledonia Township officials have accepted the first of several parcels donated for a township park. The property was offered by the Den Hartigh family, owners of Cherry Valley Resources. November 03, 2011 The entire property will be donated in phases during the next several years. It includes nearly 200 acres south of 68th Street, west of Thornapple River Drive and east of Cherry Valley Avenue. Most of it is currently being mined. The first parcel accepted by the township Wednesday night includes about 48 acres with a drive access off Cherry Valley north of 76th Street. Township Supervisor Bryan Harrison said this acreage has been mined and nearly all reclaimed.
