Private land protection topic of workshop

MATTAPOISETT — Stephen J. Small, an expert on private land protection options and their federal tax benefits and estate planning advantages, will give a workshop, titled "Preserving Family Lands: Tax Planning and Land Conservation," from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bay Club. The event is sponsored by the Coalition for Buzzards Bay.
The Coalition for Buzzards Bay, through its Bay Lands Center, aims to increase land protection and the amount of protected shoreline, forests and critical habitats in the Buzzards Bay watershed by serving as a coordination, service and financial arm for local land trusts. The coalition works with landowners, land trusts and town officials to encourage bay-focused watershed land protection, empower local land trusts and educate private landowners about conservation options.
