Sports fields may sprout on old farm

A 13.5-acre parcel along Route 2 in Concord that was once used for farming could soon be turned into athletic fields, a baseball diamond, and tennis courts. October 20, 2011 Four years after Concord Academy purchased the property from the financially strapped Arena Farms operation, the 360-student private high school is poised to move forward with plans for its athletic campus. The school is applying to the town for the necessary permits, working with neighbors to address traffic and noise concerns, and hopes to begin site work and construction in the next few months. Officials say the project is a huge step forward for the school’s athletic program, and will open up space on the school’s main campus for other needs.
