September 16, 2008 SPRING LAKE — Village Council members are pondering a potential property purchase that could someday allow for the expansion of Mill Point Park and/or an access road running parallel to Savidge Street to service the Holiday Inn. Council on Monday night voted unanimously to hold a public hearing to guage resident interest in the village purchasing about 9 acres between School Street and Village Cove Marina on the south side of Savidge Street. The land consists of about 8 acres of wetlands and .93 acres of dry land. The hearing will take place at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at Barber School,102 W. Exchange St. Property owner Howard Emerson first offered the land for sale to the village about four years ago for $280,000, according to Village Manager Ryan Cotton. Emerson recently said he would sell the property to the municipality for $119,000 with seller-financing and payments of $10,000 a year. Read the complete article from Grand Haven Tribune » |
