Farmland prices soar with cash crop profits

The price of farmland in the Upper Midwest begins the new year at record levels, with no sign of a peak yet. High grain prices are giving farmers lots of cash and they’re spending it on their favorite asset. January 08, 2011 In Rice County, farmland hovers around $6,250-$6,750 an acre, up 10 percent from the same time last year, according to Farryl Kluis, an accredited farmland appraiser and a farm manager with Hoysler Real Estate in Faribault.
