Jackson WMA sale lands before board: Stillwater man asks commissioners why county failed bid on site

The Washington County Board of Commissioners was asked Tuesday why the county did not attempt to buy a 28-acre state wildlife area in Stillwater that was sold last week to a developer by the state Department of Natural Resources. November 03, 2010 Bill Werre of Stillwater reminded commissioners that the county set up a fund to buy sites like the Jackson Wildlife Management Area north of Long Lake in Stillwater. The DNR sold Jackson WMA to Elden Lamprecht of Oakdale for $190,000, about $12,000 higher than the land's appraised value.
