The St. Louis County Board has voted 6-1 to sell the former county jail building to the city of Duluth for one dollar.
The building, vacant since 1995, was saved from being demolished by a 6-3 vote on April 3. The city, in stopping the demolishing, cited the jail's historic status.
The board also approved giving the city $107,678, which is the amount the county planned on spending to demolish the building.
The city is considering refurbishing the jail to use as office space or using other marketing strategies to utilize the building. Failing that, the money given to the city will be used to demolish it.
