Farmland assessed values not affected by record land sale

More than one person was surprised by sale price at a recent farm auction. The sale price of $10,700 per acre netted a cool $1.7 million for seller Blaine Murrell McBurney. February 24, 2011 However, property taxes on that $1.7 million farm are but a fraction of the property taxes assessed on the residential or commercial property in Marshall and surrounding towns.
