Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Protects Enhances 6 Million Acres

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation now has six million acres protected or enhanced for elk habitat. The sixth millionth acre was recorded after the foundation funded a 560-acre prescribed burn in Wyoming. The foundation says measures like prescribed burns, weed control, and forest thinning, enhance habitat. Five million acres have been enhanced through such stewardship programs. The foundation has one million acres that are protected in perpetuity. October 13, 2011
