Lyon to consider deed restrictions for land along Carson River

In order to meet requirements for a large grant to develop an aquatic park near the Santa Maria Ranch residential development and another grant for trails farther east on the Carson River in Dayton Valley, the Lyon County Board of Commissioners will consider two actions at Thursday's meeting.
November 14, 2007 The board will be asked to approve deed restrictions that limit use of the land, with both projects involving donated land that is used for the match part of the grant projects, to that use described in the grant. Much of the grant funding for the park area came from Nevada State Lands Question 1 funding and both actions deal with meeting requirements of that funding. The board at the meeting (9 a.m. in Yerington, Administrative Complex) will be asked to accept nonrevocable deed restriction to restrict property to purposes described in the grants, to ensure the land is maintained "in a manner consistent with the purpose of the Question 1 Program," the agenda summary for the report says. One of the grants was for the Santa Maria Park project, which included 33 acres of land donated by the developers in that area, Dayton Land Developers, LLC. This land should be used only for recreational or open space uses. The other grant was for river and bank restoration/rehabilitation work, including a walking trail, on land donated by Reynen & Bardis, the developers in that area (old Rolling A Ranch). The developers donated 300 acres along the river for that project. This land according to the deed restriction must only be used for restoration work, providing recreational facilities, parking and access to the river and uses towards enhancing the Carson River.
