Nature Conservancy to preserve 13000 acres in NH

The New Hampshire chapter of The Nature Conservancy is brokering a deal to protect 13,000 acres at the Mascoma River headwaters that include 47 miles of frontage on rivers and streams. July 16, 2011 The acreage represents the largest unfragmented forest south of the White Mountains, conservationists say. It's comprised of a 20-square-mile tract in the Upper Valley region that covers portions of Hanover, Canaan, Lyme and Dorchester. For comparison's sake, it's 15 times larger than New York's Central Park. naan, Lyme and Dorchester.
